Badr al-Din al-'Ayni, Commentary on Hanafi Law, Bukhara, Central Asia, 18th century Arabic manuscript on paper, Kitab al-Buyu de Al-Binaya Sharh al-Hidaya, by Badr al-Din al-'Ayni, 329 folios and two endpapers, 21 lines per page in naskh script in black and red ink, and numerous annotations between the lines and in the margins, written in all directions. The text was copied by Sultan b. Ibrahim al-Arasa'i (al-Arasani?) in the Qul Baba Kukaltash madrasa in Bukhara. Several rectangular stamps on the restored parts, including a round stamp on the first page dated to indicate a donation of the manuscript as waqf by Qadi Safar b. Mulla Khuda-Birdi dated 1217 H./1802-3. Brown leather binding with embossed decoration of a mandorla and two pendants (very damaged, spine missing). Accidents, wear, tears, chips, restorations, pages unbound, not collated. 27 x 20 cm The text of this manuscript is the Kitab al-Buyu' (Book of Purchases) from Al-Binaya Sharh al-Hidaya by Badr al-Din al-'Ayni (d. 1453). It is a commentary on an exposition of Hanafi law by Burhan al-Din Marghinani (d. 1197).
