Muhtasham Kashan, Divan, Iran, probably Safavid or Zand, 18th century Persian manuscript on paper, 282 folios and two endpapers, 15 lines per page, diwan text by the poet Muhtashan Kashan (d. 1588) on two columns in nasta'liq script in black ink within gold and blue fillets. Gilded polychrome illuminated frontispiece. Bookplate on pink label from the library of 'Alikhan Qajar Zahir al-Dawla Ishik Aghasi (d. 1924). At the end of the text, stamp of Zahir al-Dawla (1864-1924) dated 1300 H.(1882-83) and inscription indicating that it was lent for a few days. Bound in painted and lacquered paper maché, decorated with gilded floral scrolls on a black background and red counterplate. Old collection or inventory label no. 1728. Accidents, frontispiece damaged, one page torn and restored, one advertisement incorrect, one page without advertisement. 21.8 x 13 cm Ali Khan Zahir od-Dowleh (1864-1924) was an Iranian Qajar politician and intellectual.
