Pierre Tual (b. 1941) - Lot 207
Pierre Tual (b. 1941) Saturn's Day, 2014 Black patina bronze proof Cire perdue n°1/1 One-of-a-kind print Signed, dated and numbered on the base P. Tual 2014 1/1 Blanchet foundry stamp on base 16 x 25 x 18 cm Pierre Tual works with metal sheets and Cor-ten steel with a facetiousness that removes all rigidity from the material. He bends, folds and unfolds these steel plates in space like supple, airy sheets. In their monumental versions (Paris, Évry, Nantes, Rennes), his complex compositions of metal assemblies are translated into bronze by an inverse process: he creates, cuts and folds thick sheets of wax, which he assembles, bends and reworks before casting. The result is a single print of abstract, architectural constructions. His work has been exhibited at the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Galerie de France and the Domaine de Kerguéhennec in Brittany.
