Cartier - Elongated agate cat clutching a platinum butterfly 850‰ set with rose-cut diamonds. The platinum eyes set with rose-cut diamonds. The tail restored by a pattern to the 18K 750‰ white gold model, adorned with a butterfly set with brilliant-cut diamonds. Circa 1907-1920. L. 11.5 cm Gross weight 81.8 g A guarantee hallmark dispensation will be issued to the purchaser. From a pair of cats facing each other and fighting over a cloth (Photo archives of Maison Cartier). Subsequent to the sculpture of the cat: in the middle of the tail, a butterfly set on a white gold ring set with rose-cut diamonds, probably to hide an accident; above the front legs, a butterfly set with mille-grains of rose-cut diamonds in platinum and probably screwed on when the two cats were separated (work unknown). Appraisal no. ALC50 by Alain Cartier, dated April 27, 2026. This appraisal is based on the information and knowledge of the signatory.
