Important and fine Tabriz - Lot 339
Important and fine Tabriz Northwest Iran, circa 1980 High-quality silky wool velvet, silk-encrusted flowers on cotton foundations. Ivory field decorated with fine scrolls of crenellated stems terminating in flowering palmettes and foliage in pastel tones framing a large salmon-pink circular central rosette inlaid with a pearl-gray wreath. Four spandrels with floral bulbs and finely drawn boteh wreath circles in the form of stylized ram's horns, salmon pink, pearl gray and old gold. Four borders, the main one salmon pink, decorated with garlands of sprigs of flowers in the form of necklaces and stylized diamonds surrounded by floral buds.
