Mario NISSIM (1907-1990) Young woman in a red negligee, 1944 Pastel on canvas Monogrammed and dated "8/44" lower right Pastel on canvas 55 x 46 cm Inset Mario Nissim was a Surrealist painter born in Greece. In 1930, he enrolled with André Lhote, but left for Fernand Léger's studio. He rubbed shoulders with such Surrealist poets as Breton, Éluard, Prévert, Soupault and Bryen.
