A student of François Jouffroy at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, he subsequently worked on the restoration of the Château de Pierrefonds under the direction of Viollet-le-Duc. From 1874 onwards, he exhibited numerous medallion and bust portraits, as well as commemorative and allegorical groups, at the Salon des Artistes Français.
