François Auguste DESMOULINS (Paris 1788-1857) - Lot 157
François Auguste DESMOULINS (Paris 1788-1857) Waterloo Canvas Signed on the sword at left: A. Desmoulin 132 x 99.5 cm The central group is composed of foot grenadiers of the Imperial Guard, clearly recognizable by their furry caps with Imperial Eagle plates. On the ground, lower left, a cavalry lieutenant (probably a hussar) extends his arm. On the ground, a general officer, brigadier general, lies: this is General Cambronne, who had refused the rank of major general and served at Waterloo as brigadier general; he was seriously wounded and captured during the fighting. We would like to thank Mr. Arnaud de Gouvion-Saint Cyr for his help in compiling this fact sheet.
