Attributed to Jean-Nicolas Louis DURAND (1760-1834) Washerwomen and fishermen near the Louis XVI bridge in Paris Pen and black and gray ink, black and gray wash Damage, cuts 35.5 x 53.5 cm The Pont Louis XVI, later known as the Pont de la Concorde, was built between 1786 and 1791 by engineer and architect Jean-Rodolphe Perronet (1708-1794), founder of the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in 1775. Some of the stones used were from the Bastille, dismantled in July 1789
