Charles Alexandre Malfray (1887-1940) Female nude Sanguine Bears the studio stamp "Atelier Malfray Paris 51" lower right 27 x 21 cm In 1904, Charles Malfray moved to Paris, on the Butte Montmartre, after receiving a ten-year pension from the city of Orléans. He entered the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and frequented the circles of avant-garde artists. There he met Rodin and Ségonzac, and befriended Maillol and Bourdelle.
