Roger Godchaux studied with Jules Adler and Jean-Léon Gérôme. In 1925, the Jury of the Exposition des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes awarded him the silver medal. When he died in 1958 at the age of 80, he had spent more than fifty years of his life depicting the animal in all its attitudes.
