H. 16 x W. 21.5 x D. 9 cm Provenance: Dominique and Denise Egret Collection This bronze is a reduction of the monumental sculpture L'Aurore created by Arno Breker for the Ehrenhof building in Düsseldorf in 1926. The son of a sculptor, Arno Breker entered the Düsseldorf School of Fine Arts in 1919, then moved to Paris in 1925, where he trained with Despiau and admired the work of Maillol. After a stay in Italy, he returned to Germany in 1937. Influenced by the canons of ancient Greece, he sculpted athletic figures.
