Marble base H. 40 cm (including 5 cm base) x W. 15 cm x D. 11 cm Provenance: Dominique and Denise Egret Collection The son of a sculptor, Arno Breker entered the Düsseldorf School of Fine Arts in 1919, then moved to Paris in 1925, where he trained with Despiau and admired the work of Maillol. After a stay in Italy, he returned to Germany in 1937. Influenced by the canons of ancient Greece, he sculpted athletic figures.
