Raoul Larche (1860-1912) Orestes in pain or Orestes at Agamemnon's tomb Model created in 1888 Bronze with brown patina Signed "R. Larche". Bears the founder's stamp "SIOT DECAUVILLE FONDEUR PARIS". H. 60 cm In his second entry for the Grand Prix de Rome in 1888, Raoul Larche proposed a representation of Orestes standing before the tomb of his father Agamemnon, murdered by his mother Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthe, a crime for which he sought revenge. Although the sculptor did not win the competition, the model was nevertheless successfully published by Siot-Decauville in three sizes.
