Lazaros Sochos (1862-1911) Portrait of a man Original terracotta bust Signed, dated and located "L. Sochos / 1887 / Mayet". Inscribed in Greek on the back H. 44 cm Greek sculptor Lazaros Sochos studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Athens before continuing his training in Antonin Mercier's studio at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Although he drew his work mainly from the heritage of ancient Greece, he also exhibited numerous bust and medal portraits of Greek and Parisian high society at the Salon des Artistes français.
