Félix Charpentier (1858-1924) La chanson Model created circa 1889 Bronze with brown patina Signed "Félix Charpentier". Bears the founder's mark "E. COLIN & CIE / PARIS H. 69 cm Presented in plaster at the 1889 Salon, Felix Charpentier won first prize at the Salon in 1890 for the marble entitled La Chanson. A pupil of Jules Cavelier at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Charpentier exhibited regularly at the Salon and took on major public commissions. We owe him the beautiful group L'Art contemporain on the façade of the Grand Palais, and the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée du Luxembourg and the Musée d'Avignon preserve some of his works.
