Henri-Alfred Jacquemart (1824-1896) Elephant Bronze with brown patina Signed with the initials "A.J" and stamped "A. JACQUEMART H. 10 cm, terrace W. 10 x D. 7 cm From 1847 to 1879, Henri-Alfred Jacquemart exhibited a number of animal groups at the Salon, for which he became renowned. He received several commissions from the City of Paris, and made his mark at the 1878 Universal Exhibition with the famous Rhinoceros, now housed on the esplanade of the Musée d'Orsay.
