In the early 1970s, the concept of the book-object made its appearance in the world of art publishing. Breaking with the traditional conception of the illustrated book, visual artists forged new connections between matter and writing, and presented new forms of expression using renewed media to highlight the written word. L'atelier des Grames is representative of this trend, where the important thing is to give substance to the text, to give it body through the use of different materials (metal, wood, Plexiglas, glass...).
