Crombie, John. - Neither... Nor. Paris, Kickshaws, 1989. in- - Lot 317
Crombie, John. - Neither... Nor. Paris, Kickshaws, 1989. in-8 square, in sheets joined by a drawstring, in a printed cover and lilac folder with three flaps, case in three parts, two of which are joined, puzzle-like, but irremovable, by a piece of leather cut in the shape of a fish and worked to imitate scales; the movable part, which closes the case, and the fixed part of the case, have a cut-out in the shape of a fish, the inside is lined with a second case protecting the work. The outside of the case is covered with metallic iridescent paper in shades of silver and red. The corpus of the book is made up of 24 pages, each illustrated with 10 different fish shapes repeated on every page, but with a color fill that evolves from the beginning to the end of the book (by John Crombie), with texts whose spelling changes by one letter with each new legend (or pseudo-caption), from fish to dish, dash, cash, cast...etc., for example. First edition printed at 60 copies, numbered and signed by the artist (no. 8). Beautiful modern artist's binding, unsigned. Also included: Crombie, John. - Passages. Paris, Kickshaws, 1989. In-8 square paperback in lithographed softcover with small flaps. Booklet consisting of a title and 12 leaves, each containing an evolving print of the same image, composed as the "passages" progress. Lithographed color edition of 100 copies, this one unjustified.
