In-16 bound in full green morocco, boards decorated with a triple framing of gilt fillets with arms stamped in the center of the boards, ornate smooth spine, red title-piece, fillet on the edges, roulette on the chasses, gilt edges - [4 ff.], 156 pp. and suite of 20 sheets of plant paper samples: nettle paper, hop paper, moss paper, reed paper, conferve paper (3 species), couch grass root paper, charcoal wood paper (tears), cedar wood paper, elm bark paper, lime bark paper, wicker bark, Marsaut bark, willow bark, poplar bark, oak bark (with piercings), bardanne (piercings), bardanne and pas-d'âne (piercings), thistle leaves (piercing). Curious book, produced by Pierre-Alexandre Léorier-Delisle, director of the Manufacture Royale de Papeterie de Langlée, near Montargis, on vegetable paper, this one on marshmallow paper. Presented by Frédéric Barbier as "the first book printed entirely on vegetable paper". Second collective edition of the works of the sulphurous Marquis de Villette, the work contains numerous pieces in verse, as well as beautiful letters to Voltaire, of whom Villette was a fervent admirer.
