René Hetzel (1902-1972) Standing bather Green patina bronze Signed and dated "René Hetzel / 1951" on the terrace Bears the founder's stamp "SUSSE FRES PARIS CIRE PERDUE". H. 133 cm Trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, René Hetzel continued his training with a stonemason in Paris. When he took part in the 1925 Paris International Exhibition, he caused a scandal with a sculpture of a woman in childbirth. Although he specialized in bust and medallion portraits, Hetzel also took on commissions from the city of Strasbourg, creating graceful female figures.
