Arno Breker (1900-1991) Du und Ich Model created around 1944 Bronze bas-relief with antique green patina Signed "Arno Breker" lower right Bears the founder's stamp Herbet Schmäcke Düsseldorf "Fondeur HSD". Bears the number "3/15 H. 75.5 x L. 41.3 cm The son of a sculptor, Arno Breker attended the Düsseldorf School of Fine Arts in 1919, before moving to Paris in 1925, where he trained with Despiau and admired the work of Maillol. After a stay in Italy, he returned to Germany in 1937. Influenced by the canons of ancient Greece, he sculpted athletic figures.
