Georges-Lucien Guyot (1885-1973) Polar bear Signed "Guyot" and numbered "7/12". Bears the mark "Susse Frs Edts Paris". Marked "cire perdue" and stamped "BRONZE". H. 18 x W. 30 x D. 9 cm Guyot was a leading figure in animal sculpture in the 1930s. Close to Pompon, he was part of the Groupe des Douze artistic movement, along with Jeanne Poupelet and Paul Jouve, among others. Until the end of his life, he worked in Picasso's studio at the Bateau-Lavoir.
