Édouard Cazaux (1889 - 1974) L'Offrande à l'amour or Nude with Flowers Proof in patinated terra cotta Signed on the terrace on the side "Cazaux". 73.5 x 23 x 26 cm. Provenance: Former collection of Jeannine Bloch-Dermant Born into a family of potters, Édouard Cazaux trained first in ceramics and then in sculpture in Paris, where he arrived from the southeast in 1912. He was noticed by Despiau, who encouraged him to exhibit at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs and the Salon d'Automne in 1921. At the same time, he developed his activity as a ceramist alongside friends such as Mayodon and Buthaud. Today, his work can be found in the collections of the Musée de Mont-de-Marsan, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, Saint-Maur and Dax. A small-scale terracotta was presented at the Cazaux, céramiste-sculpteur exhibition at La Varenne-Saint-Hilaire, Saint-Maur, in 1989 (catalog no. 169).
