H. 61 cm Inspired by the Italian Renaissance paintings he had admired during his stay in Rome, Paul Dubois met with great success with his plaster model of the Florentine Singer at the 1865 Salon, winning the Medal of Honor. Given the craze for neo-Florentine subjects and the model's considerable popularity, Barbedienne began producing bronze editions of the Florentine Singer the same year.
