Georges GUYON (active from 1835 to 1848). Emperor Napoleon observing on a battlefield Oil on canvas. Signed and dated 1848 lower right. 93 x 138 cm Preserved in its original carved and gilded wood frame. Damage and restoration. Georges Guyon appeared at the Paris Salon from 1837 to 1848 with military subjects inspired by Empire battles, such as Le Combat de Vauchamps, La Bataille de Mondovi, L'entrée de l'armée française à Linz, and by the African campaigns.
