Antonio SENAPE (Rome 1788 - Naples 1850) Panorama of the Bay of Naples Pen and black and brown ink, on several assembled sheets. Annotated at the top Napoli, Gaeta... 22 x 214 cm A native of Rome, Antonio Senape was one of the most prolific "vedudists" of the first half of the 19th century. He worked mainly in Naples. Although he often produced the same landscapes, in particular views of Naples for grand tour travelers, he distinguished himself from other draftsmen by the "personalization" of his drawings. Indeed, he was in the habit of adding an anecdotal touch to each of his works, making a landscape, seen over and over again, unique. In our drawing, in the lower left foreground, Senape has depicted a family relaxing on their terrace overlooking the Bay of Naples.
