Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) - Lot 193
Jean LETOURNEUR (1954) Counterpoint fountain 1995-2006 Bronze, laminated copper and epoxy resin Coubertin lost-wax casting, n°1/8 Steel base 213 x 55 x 168 cm With the Fontaine Contrepoint, Jean Letourneur continues the aesthetic research into the flow of water begun with Surface de discontinuité (cat. no. 182 and 183). A total work of art, the Fontaine Contrepoint features a dialogue between a sculpted cascade and a real waterfall, whose music activates another of our senses. Its structure is based on the Modulor, a human-scale measurement system created by Le Corbusier in 1945 based on the golden ratio. The sculpted cascade of the Fontaine Contrepoint later gave rise to a large 210 cm-high blue-patinated stone, installed in 2008 at the entrance to the Clamart cemetery. Exhibitions : - 2007, Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, Fondation de Coubertin: Le spectre des jardins. - 2010, Saint-Lô, Musée des Beaux-Arts: Artists in the city. - 2012, Meudon, Centre d'art et de culture de Meudon: La quête de l'unité.
