Fernand Cian or Ciancianaini (1886-1954) Portrait of Richard Wagner Terracotta proof Signed "Fernand Ciancianaini" on the left shoulder Inscribed "SALON 1923" on the back H. 22 cm with Sienna yellow marble base H. 2 cm Of Italian origin, Fernand Cian settled in Paris, where he became a pupil of Léo Laporte-Blairsy. He made his debut at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1911, winning an honorable mention in 1921 before retiring in 1928. He specialized in pastiches in the 18th century style, producing many charming portraits of great technical skill.
