Jean-Baptiste Auguste Clésinger (1814-1883) Portrait of Paul Dalloz (1829-1887), lawyer 1870 White marble bust Signed "J. Clésinger" and dated "1870". H. 75.5 cm Paul Dalloz, lawyer, journalist and press owner, was a key figure in the artistic and political world of the late 19th century. He frequented many artists, both painters and writers, including Gustave Doré, Gustave Flaubert and Alphonse Daudet. At the 1863 Salon, Auguste Clésinger presented a bust portrait of the famous lawyer, probably a plaster version that would later be carved in marble in 1870.
