General officer's sword, chased and gilded brass guard, keyboard adorned with the head of the god Mars surrounded by branches of laurel, pommel adorned with the head of Minerva in profile, crosspiece with two chased quillons, spindle with two fluted mother-of-pearl plates; blade with triangular cross-section, one-third blued and gilded; leather scabbard with two engraved and gilded brass fittings; length 97 cm. (Later leather). Late First Empire, Restoration period. Very good condition.
