Court sword, chased, pierced and gilded iron hilt, decorated with foliage, checkerwork and medallions adorned with roses, spindle entirely silver filigree; triangular-section blade, gilded and blued in thirds, engraved with foliage and Turks, signed on the heel: "FOUASSE AU ROY DE LA CHINE SUR LE PONT St-MICHEL À PARIS"; length 102 cm. (Watermark a little loose; without scabbard). Circa 1765/1775. Good condition. FOUASSE François Maximilien, fourbisseur à Paris, 1765/1775, received master craftsman on October 30, 1765. He supplied swords for the musketeers of the bodyguards of the Comte d'Artois.
