Senior officer's saber, chased and silvered brass German-style hilt, mounts decorated with the trumpet of Renommée in a laurel wreath, branch chased with foliage, German-style cap engraved en suite, ebony spindle, checkered; beautiful double-throated blade, gilded in thirds, counter-edge ending in carp tongue; scabbard entirely in silvered brass, decorated with three cabochons: trophée d'armes, combat de hussards and foudres d'état-major, engraved around the perimeter with a leafy frieze and, on the back, with pastilles, iron sting; length 101.5 cm. (Modern copy, 20th century, sold without warranty as is, only the blade is First-Empire). First-Empire and XXth eras. Good condition.
