Charles JOUAS (1866-1942) - Lot 88
Charles JOUAS (1866-1942) Hay carts leaving for the front, Pont Neuf, Quai des Orfèvres, March 1915. Pencil and colored pencil on paper. Signed, located and dated lower right. 30 x 40 cm (view). Charles Jouas offers us a moving drawing dated 1915, in the second year of the First World War. He uses very little color, in a brilliant play of chiaroscuro. We see the façades of buildings illuminated by artificial lights in the Parisian night.
