THREE BOWLS, flared on a small heel, in porcelain with polychrome decoration of butterflies and floral motifs, the interior enameled turquoise, the lip formerly gilded. A Jiaqing mark in iron red in zhuanshu under the base. Fine chips on one. China, Jiaqing reign (1796-1820), early 19th c. H. 6.1 and D. 13.1 cm; H. 6.6 and D. 13.8 cm; H. 6.6 and D. 13.7 cm A family tradition, these three bowls were brought back from China by Mr. Ernest Derrien, commander of the Surcouf submarine in the 1930s, and passed down through his descendants.
