Bears the founder's mark "Susse Frs Edts Paris", the founder's circular insert and the stamp "SYNDICAT DES FABRICANTS DE BRONZE UNIS".

Inspired by Achille Guillaumet's painting Cardeuses de laine à Bou-Saâda (1885, oil on canvas, Rouen, Musée des Beaux-Arts, inv. 1888.2), the Jeune fille de Bou-Saâda was designed to adorn the Orientalist painter's tomb in the Montmartre cemetery in Paris.
In 1890, Louis-Ernest Barrias presented a wax version at the Salon, followed by a plaster version at the 1900 Universal Exhibition.
