Antoine-Louis Barye (1795-1875) Juno Model created circa 1840; early edition circa 1880 Bronze with brown-green patina Signed "BARYE" on the terrace Bears the founder's stamp "PEYROL". H. 28 cm Along with Minerva and Venus, the figure of Juno is part of a group forming one of the classically inspired nine-light candelabra made to adorn the mantelpiece of the Duc de Montpensier around 1840. Around 1865, Antoine-Louis Barye made Juno an independent work. The model was later published by the Peyrol foundry. Hippolythe Peyrol was first a pupil of Barye, then a publisher, in particular for Rosa and Isidore Bonheur.
