SEATED WOMAN. The face is in the Jalisco style with a long nose and eyes in high relief. The headdress in band encloses the ritually deformed skull. Earrings and bracelets adorn her naked body. Brown terracotta with beige and red engobe with traces of burning. Jalisco culture, Preclassic period, Mexico, 100 BC - 250 AD. Broken and reattached at the neck. H. 52 L. 28 Thickness 26 cm PROVENANCE: former collection of Mr. X, acquired in the 1970s.
