H. 43 cm Born into an Italian family, Charles Bigonet entered the studio of Ernest Barrias and became friends with Fernand David and Henri Bouchard. He participated in the Salon de la Société des artistes français, the Salon d'Automne and the Salon des Tuileries. He won the Algerian government prize which entitled him to a two-year scholarship at the Villa Abd-el-Tif.
