Armand Petersen (1891-1969) - Lot 152
Armand Petersen (1891-1969) Head of skunk Terra cotta with patina Signed " A. PETERSEN" on the right of the neck H. 12 cm, rests on a blackened wooden base H. 8 cm After a short passage in Paris in 1914, Armand Petersen enters the workshop of the sculptor Bêla Markup in Budapest. In addition to the learning of the modelling it receives there perhaps the most important lesson for its creation to come: the discovery of the animal art and the observation of the alive models to the zoological park of the Hungarian capital. He never stopped perfecting his work, always seeking elegance and purity of line. Ornamentation is avoided in order to render with ever greater force the anatomical truth as well as the beauty of movement and attitude.
