Oleg ZINGER (1910-1998) The three friends,... - Lot 209 - Crait + Müller
Oleg ZINGER (1910-1998) The three friends, 1976 Gouache on paper. Signed and dated lower left. 33 x 21 cm OLEG ZINGER (1910 - 1998) Son of a Russian botanist and actress, Oleg Zinger was fascinated from an early age by nature and the animals he discovered in the Moscow Zoological Park. He abandoned his studies in zoology to focus on drawing and painting. In 1927, he entered the Higher School of Applied Arts in Berlin where his parents had recently emigrated. There he began his career as a draftsman for advertising agencies such as Dychoff in Berlin. He also worked as an illustrator for a British Royal Air Force magazine, and in 1929 was commissioned to design an advertising campaign for the London Underground. In the 1950s, he designed an iconic yogurt pot label for Danone. As a Soviet citizen, he survived with difficulty in war-torn Berlin. The day after his first solo exhibition (at the Wolff Gallery in Berlin), he prepares to leave for Paris, where he becomes an advertising designer with the Dupuy agency. Oleg Zinger exhibited several times in the Raymond Duncan Gallery, the brother of Isidora Duncan. His exhibitions were very successful. In 1962, Oleg Zinger resigned from Dupuy to devote himself entirely to his artistic work. He frequently exhibited in Paris and Marseille, but also in Hamburg, Germany. In 1995, the painter moved to Nîmes where he died on January 9, 1998.
