CURIOS HAÏDA, Heiltsuk (?), British Columbia - Lot 11
CURIOS HAÏDA, Heiltsuk (?), British Columbia Soft wood, pigments, mother-of-pearl, metal, accidents. H. 50,5 cm Marotte elaborated in different registers connected to each other by metal points and hinges. Dominating the composition, the representation of a raptor's head, the eyes decorated with mother-of-pearl. Lower down, a mask divided into two panels, the eyes also pastilated and hemmed, above a threatening mouth with red lips. This first open mask, a second face, just as aggressive. A rich polychrome decoration, and formerly of copper strips having tinted the object of green of gray, completes the set.
