KONO BAMBARA MASK, Mali - Lot 9
KONO BAMBARA MASK, Mali Wood with a crusty patina, native fabric. Accidents. H. 66 cm Important Bambara mask, the helmet surmounted by a central spur, two long horns curving at the top, while a jagged and open snout stretches the object. The crusty patina attests to the numerous and ancient libations performed. This mask, with its great presence, belongs to the group of objects used in the rituals of the Kono initiation society. It materializes the animal power in all its characteristics, the menacing mouth representing in particular the devouring force. Nice copy of the type.
