Charles Auffret (1929-2001) - Lot 136
Charles Auffret (1929-2001) Draped Figure, or Meditation, 1965 Bronze proof, n°8/8 Lost wax casting Jean-Marc Bodin Signed " CH. AUFFRET". 43 x 10.5 x 8 cm The Draped Figure is the sketch for the Virgin placed in the church of Rochefort-en-Yvelines. Commissioned to Charles Auffret by the parish, the statue of the Virgin, made of wood in a larger-than-life size, is still housed in the church today. From the moment of its creation, Charles Auffret gave the sketch of the Virgin a life independent of that of the finished work. Named Figure drapée or Meditation, it was produced in bronze and presented in the artist's exhibitions: Stockholm, 1970; Blois, 1979; Paris, 1986; Brest, 1995.
