Set of 5 books with plates stamped with arms. 1/ - Salmon. - Nouvel abrégé chronologique de l'histoire d'Angleterre... Paris, Rollin, Jombert, 1751. In-8 bound in full contemporary tan calf. T II only. Arms of Louis-François-Armand de Vignerot du Plessis, duke of Richelieu and Fronsac... (1696-1788). Received as a member of the French Academy in 1720, he was appointed peer of France in 1721 and ended his career as general commander of the Mediterranean coasts in 1756 (OHR pl. 407 fer n° 1). 2/ - Privat de Fontanilles. - Malthe, or Lisle-Adam, last Grand Master of Rhodes, and First Grand Master of Malthe. Poem. Dedicated to Monseigneur le Duc de Valentinois, Pair de France. Paris, Huart et Moreau fils, Durand, 1749. In-8, bound in full contemporary calf, spine decorated, title-piece - headbands damaged with small tears in the spine - XXIV, 199 pp. Arms of Charles-Philippe d'Albert, duke of Luynes and Chevreuse, count of Montfort and Tours (1695-1758). (OHR pl. 1846, iron no. 2). 3/ - Quinte Curse. - Alexandri Magni historiarum... Paris, Sébastien and Gabriel Cramoisy, 1654. In-12, bound in full contemporary calf, the boards decorated with a double frame of gilt fillets, spine ribbed and decorated, author's part - headbands faded, beginning of a crack at the head and tail of the first jaw, first free endpaper missing - [4 ff.], 308 pp., [10 ff.] Arms of Thomas II de Morand, baron of Mesnil-Garnier, lord of Eterville, Couseulles and Soulles (1584-1651). He ended his career as Commander and Grand Treasurer of the King's orders. Having founded prizes in perpetuity for the college of the Mont in Caen, we find his arms on books published after his death. This is the case here (OHR pl. 2134 iron no. 1 smaller 61 x 49 mm). 4/ - Richer. - New fables set in verse with the life of Aesop... First part (only). Paris, Barrois, 1748. In-12, bound in full contemporary calf with ornate smooth spine, title-piece - headpieces damaged, jaws cracked but boards not detached. Arms of the city of Avignon (OHR pl. 1236, iron n° 1). 5/ - [Pompeius Trogue] - Justin. - Historiarum philippicarum et totius mundi originum et terrae situs... Leiden, (between 1650 and 1659). In-8, bound in full 18th calf, spine ribbed, author's copy - [8 ff. missing the first title leaf], 531 pp, [34 pp. index]. Epitome by Justin of the Philippics of Pompeius Trogue. Unidentified arms, depicting a phoenix with outstretched wings, resting on a brazier of branches and looking at a sun (OHR pl. 2273 fer no. 1).
