Amsterdam, G. Gallet, 1700. In-12, bound in full contemporary calf, spine ribbed, title-piece (that of the tomaison missing) - binding in bad condition. Volume I only (out of 3) - [5 ff., title, preface], 238 pp. (with M. de Mey's appendix on the ephemera and his remarks on the transformation of insects). Work illustrated with an engraved title-frontispiece [Persyn] and 63 plates sometimes with several subjects and drawn by Goedart (in all numbered 79). In-12, full contemporary calf with smooth spine - binding in poor condition - 371 pp. (erroneously numbered 374). 6/ - [Sallengres, Albert-Henri - Miger, Pierre-Auguste]. - In praise of drunkenness. New edition. Bacchopolis, printing house of the old Silene, the year of the vine 5555 - Paris, Michel, year VI [1798]. In-12, half-basane with smooth spine, title-piece - piercing to the first spine and beginning of a split, spotting, wetness and foxing - 250 pp, [1 f. catalogue], [1 f. manuscript], allegorical frontispiece by Binet engraved by J. Le Roy. New edition given by the polygrapher from Lyon, Pierre-Auguste Miger (1771-1837), who takes up Sallengres' work and considerably expands it to the point of making it a new book as indicated in the preface. This apology of drunkenness offers very cheerful anecdotes and considerations on the alcoholism of church people, popes, saints, bishops, philosophers, poets, scholars... The handwritten text at the end of the book reproduces Casimir Delavigne's poem "Délire Bachique" from "Les Contemporaines". 7/ - Darwin, Charles. - The expression of emotions in man and animals. In-8, publisher's percaline, spine titled in gilt letters - pale wetness affecting the first 7 leaves - VII, 405 pp. (with the erratum not numbered). 7 beautiful photographic plates, 3 of which folding, and 20 woodcuts in-t.
