Bernhard HOETGER (1874-1949) - Lot 264
Bernhard HOETGER (1874-1949) The Coalman Bronze with light brown patina. Signed and located B Hoetger Paris on the terrace. Bears the mark of the founder Andro fondur Paris. H. 36 cm RELATED LITERATURE : Dieter Golücke, Bernhard Hoetger: Bildhaeur, Maler, Baukünstler, Designer, Germany, Worpsweder, 1984, reproduction p. 11; Florence Rionnet, Les Bronzes Barbedienne, l'œuvre d'une dynastie de fondeurs, Arthéna, 2016, model listed under cat. 1231, p. 399. Le Charbonnier, presented at the 1903 Salon under no. 806, is part of a group of works around Les Travailleurs in 1902. Concerned about the working conditions of the working class, Bernhard Hoetger represents the strength of the latter through this man with developed muscles. On December 28, 1938, Eugène Blot handed over the printing rights for this model to Barbedienne.
