Attributed to Auguste RAFFET (1804-1860) The capture of Antwerp, 1832 Oil on canvas. Inscribed on the back on the frame, prise d'Anvers 1832 Raffet. 21.5 x 27 cm BIBLIOGRAPHY : A. Bry, Raffet sa vie et ses œuvres, J. Baur Libraire-Editeur, Paris, 1874, p. 25. Raffet went to Antwerp in 1832 to witness the capture of Antwerp. He came back to Paris with many drawings and sketches of this battle which he used to publish a set of 24 plates recounting this event. Our work is close to this historical suite.
