Alfred Auguste JANNIOT (1889-1969) Head of an athlete Proof in plaster. Damage, missing parts and restorations. Rests on a square plaster base. H. 36, base H. 20 cm This head is a study for the monumental Athlete made by Alfred Auguste Janniot for the Lescure Stadium in Bordeaux. The sculptor, a pupil of Bourdelle, produced numerous monumental works, including the reliefs for the south façade of the Museum of Modern Art in Paris for the 1931 International Exhibition.
