Restorations. The Duchy of Medina Sidonia has existed without interruption since its creation in 1445. It is the oldest hereditary duchy in force of the Crown of Castile and the Kingdom of Spain. Created in 1445, it is of great historical importance, and in 1520 it received the First Class Spanish Greatness, a title granted to the main noble lines of Spain. This title remained in the hands of the Pérez de Guzmán family until 1779.
